Biography
Geoff Keighley is a Canadian gaming journalist, producer, and CEO of The Game Awards Inc. He began his career in the industry in 1994 as a script writer for the first Cybermania '94 television award. In 1996, he founded the GameSlice website dedicated to gaming journalism. Since 2001, he has held the position of president of this resource. In the early 2000s, he worked as a freelance writer for publications such as Entertainment Weekly, Fortune, and GameSpot, where he became known for The Final Hours series about the development of major gaming projects.
From 2010 to 2015, he held a managerial position at MTV Networks, where he was responsible for content preparation and special broadcasts. From 2006 to 2013, he served as an executive producer of the Spike Video Game Awards (VGA/VGX).
In October 2014, Keighley founded his own award, The Game Awards (TGA), becoming its producer and host. The project received support from publishers (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) and became a platform for honoring industry achievements. In 2020, he launched the Summer Game Fest. Currently, Keighley continues to lead TGA, organize Gamescom opening ceremonies, and serve as a media figure in the gaming industry.
